Beyond Awesome SERIES 2

Australian Broadcasting Corporation

In 2025 it was time to embark on another epic adventure across Asia and the Pacific. In collaboration with ABC Australia, we set out to develop a second series of short stories designed to engage young people in some of the big development issues and solutions in their region.
We unpacked climate solutions, saw how sport is empowering youth, and uncovered the power of protein. The second Beyond Awesome series proved popular and we also compiled the six shorts into a 45-minute single episode for further broadcast.

Just before cyclone season gets underway in Vanuatu, in our new series for the ABC, we join disability advocate Ellen Tamata as she helps people living with disabilities and their communities to get ready. Her efforts are saving lives.

With sea levels on the rise because of climate change, in our new series for the ABC we meet Alan Resture. He is on a mission to help protect his homeland and that involves making land, literally! We see how it’s done.
With malnutrition rates among the highest in the world, we go behind the scenes of a popular cooking show in Timor Leste that is demonstrating just how easy it is to create delicious and affordable protein-packed meals.

We join one of the first women to qualify as a surf instructor in the Solomon Islands as she and her team use their passion for surfing to empower girls by challenging stereotypes about men and women.

With climate change pushing rice farmers to the brink in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta, in our new series for the ABC we meet two soil scientists who, together with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, are using an innovative technology to help farmers adapt.

With rising cost of living pressures seeing more young people seek work, Loa Rugby CEO and star player, Viengsamai Souksavanh, is using this Rugby season to teach youth how to stay safe.
